THE DANTE SOCIETY OF WESTERLY

LA SOCIETA DANTESCA DI WESTERLY, EST. 1975

Purpose: The purpose of the Dante Society is to preserve, promote and foster the Community’s awareness of the Italian culture and to reward excellence in the study of the Italian language at the Westerly High School.

History: In 1975 a group of people met at Lillian and Walter Ruisi’s home for the purpose of reinstating The Dante Prize. This prize, privately funded by Dr. John Ruisi, had been awarded in past years to a student at Westerly High School for their excellence in the study of the Italian language.
